The Local Plan will be influenced by the new Prime Minister and our new Mayor. There is a proposal for a booking in system to go to any recycling centre and this was felt not to be a practical solution. Anglian Water was also discussed, gullies have been emptied recently and will be done more frequently. Members also discussed the situation at Twin Lakes. C Cllr Oliver has sent her apologies.
2026/022 Clerk’s report on matters outstanding and correspondence
a) Defib – the clerk advised that the best priced quote is from AedDonate at £649 plus VAT. It was resolved to place an order with this supplier and also take out a maintenance plan at £99 per year. A grant will be applied for from our District Councillor for £500.
2026/023 Village Communal Space – There is no communal space in West Ashby, CG has an idea in mind and explained this to the meeting. To acquire a piece of land, however an approach must be made to a local landowner first. There are grant possibilities for this project and it was resolved to pursue this matter further. For the time being this matter will remain confidential.
2026/024 Cemetery:
a) Orchard Trees – There is room for 10 and the clerk will send a google map of the cemetery to the tree provider to show our current layout.
b) Path Improvements – The chairman explained his plans to invest in the cemetery by improving the path at the side and also make a turning area for hearses. The path can also be extended to reach the orchard where we will install the new bench and also add a central path to make access better. The quote for an in house project of this nature with volunteer time and manpower would be £1,000 and the members were wholly in support of this proposal. The chairman will take action on this project in the autumn.
2026/025 Highways matters – All works that LCC Highways said they would do following the parish walk have been done. CG now has copies of the drainage maps for the village.
